'People are fearful' - why 'powerhouse' Arsenal have become the team to beat.

There's no doubt why Arsenal are now countless pundits' preferred choice to claim the Premier League this season.

Examine their performances against Newcastle and Crystal Palace in contrast with those same matches in the previous campaign.

The Gunners have beaten all of them in the current season, but surrendered 10 points across those games as they fell away in the title race previously.

Impenetrable Defense

Arsenal's defensive strength is a key reason why they are appearing strong to finally fulfil their title target.

They lead the league for unbreached games (6), goals conceded (3), attempts against (72), shots on target faced (19) and expected goals against (5.3).

The center-back duo of Gabriel and William Saliba is potentially the strongest in the league, with Arsenal keeping a clean sheet in six of their first nine games.

Dead-Ball Dominance

Their threat from set-pieces is well known, but opposition teams still don't know how to contain the Gunners from these opportunities.

They have notched 11 times from set-pieces in the league, two more than any other side, with 69% of their goals originating from these situations.

"Arsenal can excel in various aspects now. The whole team has a fear factor. People are just wary of them and it is excellent to see."

Championship Pedigree

What is especially notable about Arsenal's start to the campaign is they have also faced Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle United at opposition grounds and Manchester City at home - and are still ahead by four points at the top.

While they keep winning, their traditional rivals are struggling. This marks the initial occasion at this juncture of the season since 1992 that none of Manchester City and United, Liverpool or Chelsea are in the Premier League top four.

The expectations was on manager Mikel Arteta at the start, having spent around £250m on eight summer acquisitions in pursuit of that long-awaited first title since 2004.

But the business has so far paid off in remarkable manner, with his side one of the most prolific attacks in the league and having the strongest defense, despite several injuries.

  • Unbreached games in three straight Premier League games
  • Nearly 6.5 hours without letting in a goal
  • Only three goals in 12 games across various contests

Former players and experts have characterized Arteta's men as a "unstoppable force, looking hard to stop" with the whole club now functioning with conviction and purpose.
