The much-anticipated Season 2 of the adult animated musical series Hazbin Hotel arrives on the streaming platform soon, and audience theories has been widespread.
The first season presents a large cast of personalities living within the afterlife, pits them against each other accompanied by songs about their clashes, and establishes heated competitions and angsty, affectionate connections that fuel fan obsession.
The community's expectations for the new season differ greatly, but certain themes emerge over and over: Could Angel Dust escape his tormentor? Will we find out more about the mysterious "deal" affecting the enigmatic Alastor? Might certain characters' relationships evolve?
"Obviously, I don't produce the show with fan service as the main goal," the creator stated earlier this year. "However I feel like me being a fan of my own show means there's a lot of it just inherently. I also am eager for these things, and I hope some of these things to happen, and obviously some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
She says her big-picture plan is for five seasons of Hazbin Hotel. Seasons 3 and 4 have already been green-lit by Prime Video and A24, which produce the series.
That might mean viewers have to wait years for some of the major resolutions — but they may be surprised at how fast the new season progresses, and how much of what they're anticipating happens now.
"I believe people are going to get a lot out of it," the creator notes. "We get some firsts. I think we receive some incredible reveals, some fascinating backstories, and even just simple things, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] Audiences will experience much more singing from the characters we didn't get to hear before."
She's certainly aware of the theories and desires about the upcoming season — particularly in the form of fan bingo cards.
"I've seen a few fans make a prediction grid about season 2," she mentions. "Obviously I won't share it, but I've already completed some of them, and nearly every one of them have almost a bingo. I thought, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that makes me think we accomplish much [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I realized, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that makes me happy."
Hazbin Hotel the second season premieres on the streaming service on October 29.
